Rotary Club sends goods to Romania

Almost 150 shoeboxes filled with toys and household items made their way to children in poverty-stricken regions of Eastern Europe after a four-month campaign by Bray Rotary.
Members of Bray Rotary, their families and students of St. Gerard's school carefully selected items such as cosmetics, toys, clothing, and baby items for the 149 shoeboxes which were sent off to England last month before being delivered to Bucharest in Romania.
Seamus Jennings, a teacher at St. Gerard's, gave his students the opportunity to get involved with this worthwhile project. And the pupils enthusiastically supported it by filling around 50 shoeboxes in total.
A big thanks was extended to Ronan Jeffares of Bray Self Storage who kindly put the boxes on a palette and shipped them over to the UK at no charge.
Una Whelan of Bray Rotary explained that because the shoeboxes are distributed by Rotarians in the countries they go to, there is no chance of the items being sold on or stolen.
Another shoebox campaign is planned to get underway next spring.
