An Email from a Rotary Friend in Honduras

Dear friends from Hands to Honduras and Rotary Clubs:
As a Honduran I feel so helpless as I watch the international news and realize that outside the borders of our country, very few people know the truth.
We Hondurans are relieved because finally the Supreme Court of Justice and National Congress applied out laws and removed Manuel Zelaya from the presidency.
Zelaya had formed strong alliances with Hugo Chavez and was installing a similar regime in Honduras. We Hondurans want freedom and liberty we want democracy for our children.
When I think of my two kids, ..., my heart aches to imagine their future in a country where there is no democracy. I have dreamed great things for my kids, and I fret that those dreams are shattered by a government like Manuel Zelaya´s and Hugo Chaves'.
My friends, I am shocked to hear from the international press and community that there has been a military coup in my country when there hasn't been a proper investigation about the situation. How can they make such strong decissions against our country by only hearing Zelayas´side of the story?
On Friday when Miguel Insulza (OAS Organization of American States) came to Honduras, he mentioned to the international press that 10, 000 people were manifesting that they wanted Zelaya back, but he missed to mention the 70,000 people who were peacefully standing in front of the
Presidential Office as a signal of support to the new government.
All of you have visited my home - town Danli, you know it´s a small place, but on Thursday, 20,000 people from this town marched peacefully around town to declare that we support the new government.
My friends, if in any way you can help us show the world the reality of our situation I would be forever greatful to you.
